What is porting?
Answer:
Local Number Porability (LNP) allows you to change service providers within the same local area and keep the same phone number. This is often referred to as "porting".

Can i open up my own record label and sign myself and get my music out there without relying on other record l?

March 29th, 2013 2 comments

I make really good quality songs and i dont want to be signed by some other record labels..i want to boost myself of into to music business, iwant to do my own signing and earn my own money when people buy my music. But i want to know how tough is it going to be and is it possible???plz i want good answers, thank u.

For starters, there would be no need to sign yourself if you are the sole proprietor of the label because you would simply be entering a contract with yourself.

Furthermore, starting a label isn’t going to give you more resources that you do not already have. If you do not know how to market and sell your music now… Then you won’t be able to do so as a label either.

You do not need a label in order to make money as an Artist. You simply have to market yourself well enough and make your music available to those whom wish to purchase it.

If you do not know how to sell your music through online retailers; like iTunes, Amazon… etc, I recommend you look into Catapult Digital Distribution. They will distribute your songs to most all major digital music retailers as well as make your songs available as ringtones for most cellular providers. You will also be paid for album sales, song sales, streams, and downloads… Not to mention at a rate that is much much higher than Artists whom earn royalties though their label.

The camera on my Samsung BlackJack won’t let me take anymore pictures! How can I rectify this?

March 12th, 2013 2 comments

When I try to take a picture, it gives me an error message – "Not enough disk space!!" and I know I have more than enough. Please help!
I don’t have a lot of directly on my phone. Most of them are on my memory card.

There is one of two issues causing this problem. One, you truly have too many pictures, and they may not be stored where you thought they should be stored, for example they may be on the phones memory even if you have a memory card installed. Make sure that all pictures, videos, ringtones, etc. are stored on a memory card as this will make your phone run more smoothly,as well as give you more space for storage. The second issue is that if you have a few programs running, this will take up your system resources and not allow you to take a picture. To stop the programs, hold down the home key (key with picture of house on it) fopr a few seconds which will open your listy of running programs. I suggest to close all, and then attempt to take a picture, but i most likey think that the first op[tion is the case.

What is a good app/program to backup an Android phone?

March 8th, 2013 No comments

I am brand new to the Android world, and am helping someone with a new Android phone. I’ve used only Palm and Windows smartphones in the past. I’m looking for a program/app that does a backup of the phone–files and system profile…everything. I want something that isn’t expensive. If it synced w/ the computer, that would be great, but not essential. The ability to run auto scheduled backups would be nice too, but not a deal breaker. Any good suggestions?

How do you block a caller through AT&T’s cell phone service?

March 3rd, 2013 2 comments

I have a person who continues to stalk me. I want to block that person from contacting me. How can you do that if I have AT&T. My phone doesn’t have any blocking features on it.

AT&T has recently got AT&T Smart Limits. With this service you can block phone numbers from calling you. The service is $4.99 per month. For more information on Smart Limits, go to the link below:
http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/articles-resources/parental-controls/smart-limits.jsp

If you wish not to sign up for the service, assign the number a silent ringtone. When the person calls, you won’t hear your phone ring. You can just ignore the call.

What is a virtual serial port?

March 1st, 2013 1 comment

I bought a bluetooth adapter for my Toshiba Satellitem, and my samsung slider has a virtual serial port. What exactly can i do with a virtual serial port? Can i use it to download ringtones on my phone without using the 3g internet?

A virtual serial port is an emulation of the standard serial port. This port is created by software which enable extra serial ports in an operating system without additional hardware installation (such as expansion cards, etc.). Unlike a physical serial port the virtual one can be assigned any name (COM255, VSP33, etc.). It is possible to create unlimited number of virtual serial ports in your PC. The only limitation is the computer performance, as it may require a substantial amount of resources to emulate large numbers of serial ports.

Any one know a good android music player?

February 27th, 2013 2 comments

I want a simple music player for android that has a widget and organizes my music the way it is organized in the SD card directory.

I am currently using the default player. I have all my music arranged by artist and album on the SD card, but the media player arranges it by tags. So, a lot of my music doesn’t have tags meaning a lot of it is a clumped together as "unknown artist" and "track 1" etc. even though i have it all organized on the SD card.

Can anyone help me?

Try panda PC SUITE.

How do I block someone from calling me on AT&T?

February 25th, 2013 2 comments

I’ve seen plenty of old forums and such that say blocking a phone # on a cell phone can’t be done. This is quite ridiculous and if it is the case makes me want to write some code to check the incoming number and block it. How hard can that be? Perhaps with the OpenMoko coming out, more people will start building cell phone apps. Hopefully something has already changed from the old posts though. Thanks!

You have AT&T so you can get Smart Limits. This add on service lets you block people from calling you and texting you. Call customer care to get the service. It is $4.99 per month to have.
http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/articles-resources/parental-controls/smart-limits.jsp

Some phones have an option called a rejection list. It would be under call settings if you have this option. You would simply add the number to the rejection list and the call wouldn’t go through. Actually the caller just goes straight to voice mail.

If you do not have the rejection list, then assign a silent ringtone to the person. That way the person calls, you won’t hear them calling. You can just ignore the call.
