Is it possible to make your own ringtones?
Like are ringtones a wav file or is the sound synthesized?
How does one download it then?
You can use software, there are thousands of programs like WavePad, or an online tool where you simply upload the MP3 you want and it will convert to a ringtone:

I make my own ringtones and the formats are mp3,wma and so on, all depending on the phone! For video, the format is 3gp. When making ringtones, must ringtones ring for 18 secs or less depending on the phone.
